Start pedalling towards an eco-friendly future business…

Under these current circumstances, we have had to move to online and blended learning, however, we always strive to give the best student experience and that includes bringing in some fantastic guest speakers.

Our level 6 students undertaking the Social and Environmental Accounting module had the pleasure of attending a session with Will Vaughan from Hereford Pedicargo and Pedicabs. Module Tutor Zoe Lawrence had this to say about the session:

Hereford Pedicargo and Pedicabs are a sustainable, innovative business owned by Will Vaughan. Will was a former student at UOG who worked in Creative Design but had a passion for protecting our planet and cycling. Thirteen years ago he set up the business, cycling passengers on a night out around Hereford.  He now delivers blood for the hospital, removes waste and recycles this and is also in the process of designing a piece of machinery that turns bottles into sand to help with the flood issue in Herefordshire.

The level 6 students who have selected the Social and Environmental Accounting module are learning about reporting, social investors and sustainable decision making. Hearing from a real life business who puts the planet and people above profit is exactly what we are expecting from our future accountants to lead the way in business.

Big thank you to Will for providing this insight into his business for our students.

We look forward to hosting other guest speakers in the future, so keep an eye out for more blogs like these.
