An unlikely tale of two Alumni, whose career-paths crossed 5000 miles away from where it began here in Cheltenham. Mark Andrews, is a freelance writer who studied Business Studies with Environmental Policy, and Luke Duggleby who studied Photography. The pair, who attended what was then Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education at the same time, recently collaborated overseas in Asia.

Mark proposed the idea for an article to Korean Airline, ‘Koreanair’ for their in-flight magazine ‘Morning Calm’. The Article is about Kampot, a pepper variety from Cambodia that is widely used in Asian cooking and is known for its delicate warmth and spice. Separately, Luke the photographer assigned to shoot the pictures had also suggested Kampot pepper as a topic some time back. The timing was to coincide with the pepper harvest that year.

During compiling the article Mark and Luke communicated via email over items such as who and what would be featured but did not meet in person. Afterwards, they connected on LinkedIn and discovered they were both graduates of the University of Gloucestershire. Further correspondence revealed that their time in Cheltenham even overlapped! Whether they actually met back then remains a mystery.

Currently, Luke is based in Bangkok, Thailand where he works as a as a photographer.

Mark is in Shanghai working as a freelance writer mainly writing travel and car articles.
