Caroline H Green, recently completed an M.A. in Fine Art at the University of Gloucestershire

Appeared on Countryfile on Sunday19th August. Caroline an artist who lives and works between Ledbury and Hereford at the Trumpet Corner Tearoom and Gallery.

Caroline, who was exhibiting her works at the recent ‘Countryfile Live’ programme at Blenheim Palace was approached by directors of the show who asked if she would like to paint Blenheim Palace with Winston Churchill and his dog Rufus in the foreground. The programme was already running a piece on Churchill’s love for animals and painting and thought this would be a welcome addition to the show.

Caroline, was taken by golf buggy armed with her easel and brushes to the site where she was left to paint whilst host, John Craven arrived with the TV crew.

In a local paper, Caroline said she “I was overwhelmed by the majestic beauty of Blenheim Palace and its history “. “I had a real lump in my throat, but once the crew and John Craven arrived I didn’t have time to reflect and had to work very hard to complete the painting in 3 hours”Periodically through the session Caroline chatted to John Craven and Antonia Keaney, a Blenheim Palace researcher and the resulting painting was revealed to Countryfile viewers.

She said that the whole experience was “truly magical and something she will never forget.”
