Dr Adeela ahmed Shafi awarded MBE

Reader in Education within the School of Education and Humanities, Dr Adeela ahmed Shafi, has been awarded an MBE for services to social justice in Bristol. Dr Adeela has been driving important initiatives as a social activist in Bristol for the last thirteen years, specifically within the Pakistani community. She was elected as General Secretary for the Pakistan Association Bristol (PAB) in 2007 and then Governor for the oversight of PAB. Following this, Adeela was the first female Parliamentary Candidate of Pakistani descent to stand in the 2010 General Elections.
