University of Gloucestershire Student Crisis Fund

Over the next year, our new, returning and departing students are likely to be facing financial pressures like never before.

The University’s Student Crisis Fund provides money that can be made available, quickly, to students and recent graduates who are suffering urgent financial hardship. We expect demand for this type of support to increase considerably over the coming months. We are therefore asking if you might consider a one-off donation to our Student Crisis Fund, to help us provide additional support to those in our student community who are facing specific and significant financial difficulties as a result of Covid-19.

The last few months have seen unprecedented times for all of us. But it is no doubt that it is our young people who will bear the brunt as we seek to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the UK economy.

  • Some students will have struggled to find part-time or summer work to help fund the 2020/21 academic year at university;
  • In some cases, parents and carers will have faced reduced income so may be unable to provide the additional financial support they otherwise would;
  • We anticipate that the need for a good laptop to engage properly with online elements of a course may cause issues for some new and returning students;
  • The Class of 2020, who have had their graduation delayed until next year, may well need some financial support to compete in the increasingly competitive graduate labour market, such as access to expenses to help them get to and prepare for interviews.

There may be other instances and situations also, and we want to be able to support our students and recent graduates if they need financial help and support in the coming months.

If you do feel able to donate to our Student Crisis Fund, we’d be hugely grateful. You can make a donation here.  All donations will go directly into this fund which will be used to help students and recent graduates in their individual circumstances.

If you would like to discuss regular giving for this fund, or for any other reason, please email communications@glos.ac.uk
