University of Gloucestershire nominated for TIGA Games Industry Awards 2020

The shortlist has been revealed for this year’s prestigious TIGA awards and the University of Gloucestershire is pleased to announce a shortlist entry in the Best Educational Institution category. It follows the announcement in September that the Computer Games Programming and Computer Games Design courses at the University of Gloucestershire will receive TIGA accreditation, in recognition of the courses achievements and reputation.

TIGA is one of Europe’s largest network of independent games developers and publishers and recognised as one of the industry’s most prestigious events. Now in their ninth year, the awards attract hundreds of entries from across the world. The nomination comes as figures show the University of Gloucestershire offers students looking for a future career in the games industry an ideal springboard. Around 85% of graduates from the BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming and the BSc (Hons) Computer Games Design were employed 6 months after leaving university. Significant numbers of graduates from both the Computer Games Design and Computer Games Programming courses gain employment in the games industry. A high level of graduates use their game technology skills in future employment.

With courses delivered by staff who are industry professionals, having worked on multiple games across a range of development hardware the courses offer the chance to learn the skills that are required for this this dynamic industry. The winners of this year’s TIGA Awards will be announced in a special virtual ceremony last this year. You can read more about this story here.
