The Chancellor’s Lecture 2020


​We are delighted to welcome Dr Jane Davidson who will be presenting this year’s Chancellor’s Lecture: #futuregen: How to be a Good Ancestor. Dr Davidson will be exploring what needs to be in place to change the behaviour of governments or institutions to encourage long term thinking. She will look at the long term strategic approach adopted in Wales – the introduction of a law to protect future generations – through the well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, and whether this could transfer to the wider UK.
The 30 minute lecture will be followed by followed by a panel discussion, with guests including Dr Alex Ryan, Director of Sustainability, and Luc Brown, SU President, at the University of Gloucestershire. Jane is the author of #futuregen: Lessons from a Small Country and Chair of the Wales Inquiry of the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission. She is Pro Vice-Chancellor Emeritus at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

The online lecture is on Wednesday 9 December, via Zoom, from 6-7pm. Tickets are free, but you must register in advance via Eventbrite. An email link will be sent to confirmed attendees the day before the event.​
