UoG celebrates success at Green Gown Awards recognising excellence in sustainability

University of Gloucestershire has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability after gaining two Highly Commended Green Gown Awards 2021.

The Green Gown Awards recognise sustainability excellence in further and higher education institutions across a range of categories and are increasingly competitive each year.

The University achieved Highly Commended in the ‘Tomorrow’s Employees’ category for our Radical Sustainability programme, and Highly Commended in the ‘Reporting with Influence’ category for its Annual Sustainability Report 2019-20.

The University was also shortlisted as a Finalist in the Student Engagement category of the awards for its Live Smart student experience programme co-created with students to make links between their immediate concerns and bigger picture issues the world faces for the future.

As a pioneer and leader of sustainability in higher education and the region, the University last month announced its plans to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030. You can read more about this story on the university website.
