This is our hall of fame, our wall of honour. &nbsp;We expect many more of our current students to join them in the future.&nbsp; Who knows?&nbsp; The next one just might be you\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/phil-bowne.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/phil-bowne.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"phil-bowne\" class=\"wp-image-2368\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Philip Bowne<\/strong>&nbsp;recently graduated with a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Gloucestershire. In the UK, his short fiction has been published by <i>The Lampeter Review, Sein und Werden,<\/i>and Birkbeck University\u2019s<i>Writers\u2019 Hub<\/i>, and his short story \u2018Cows Can\u2019t Jump\u2019 was selected as one of ten winners of the Stroud Short Stories competition. In the US, his short story \u2018Forget-Me-Not\u2019 won the <i>Bartleby Snopes&nbsp;<\/i>short fiction competition, and his work has appeared in other publications such as&nbsp;<i>WORK, Gravel, BlazeVOX<\/i>, <i>The Atticus Review, <\/i>and the <i>Maple Tree Literary Supplement, <\/i>in Canada<i>.<\/i> He has worked as a travel writer on a month long InterRail blog for Endsleigh which detailed his experiences travelling around Europe.<i>The Guardian<\/i> published&nbsp;his account of his trip&nbsp;in November 2014. She moved to Ottawa to pursue a career with the federal government, culminating in her appointment as Canada\u2019s Ambassador to Iceland. She subsequently completed the Post-Graduate Creative Writing Program of Humber College in Toronto and obtained a Masters\u2019 degree with Merit in Creative and Critical Writing from the University of Gloucestershire, UK, in 2019. Her children\u2019s picture book,\u00a0<em>Kat and the Meanies<\/em>, was published in 2016. Her short story\u00a0<em>Irma<\/em>\u00a0appeared in the 2019 anthology \u201cA Two-Four of Tales,\u201d and\u00a0<em>Released<\/em>\u00a0appeared in the 2020 anthology \u201cShort Stories for a Long Year,\u201d both published by Ottawa Independent Writers. &#8220;To Play At God&#8221;, her debut collection of two literary fiction novellas, was published on October 25, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/chaucer-j-cameron-300x270.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/chaucer-j-cameron-300x270.jpg?resize=150%2C135&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Chaucer-J-Cameron-300x270\" class=\"wp-image-2370\" width=\"150\" height=\"135\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chaucer Cameron<\/strong>&nbsp;is a poet based in Cheltenham who holds an MA in Creative and Critical Writing from the University of Gloucestershire. Her&nbsp;work has been published in<em> The Stare\u2019s Nest, The Interpreter\u2019s House<\/em>, <em>Quest Gallery Catalogue<\/em>, <em>Haigaonline,<\/em> amaryllis <em>poetry online<\/em>, and she has had poetry and monologues dramatized at <em>The Everyman Theatre <\/em>in Cheltenham. &nbsp;Her poetry films have been&nbsp;screened at festivals in Cheltenham, Bristol, and Swindon, and at the Arnolfini as part of <i>Liberated Words Poetry Film Festival<\/i>. She&nbsp;is a founder member of PF, a poetry group based in Gloucestershire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/lucie-brownlee.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/lucie-brownlee.jpg?ssl=1\" alt=\"Lucie Brownlee\" class=\"wp-image-1627\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Lucie Brownlee<\/strong>&nbsp;holds an&nbsp;MA in Creative and Critical Writing from the University of Gloucestershire, and while studying at UoG her story <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2010\/aug\/14\/lucie-brownlee-summer-short-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8216;T-Shirt Weather&#8217;<\/a> was shortlisted for <em>The Guardian<\/em> Short Story Prize. In 2012 she tragically lost her husband and courageously began recording her experiences in her award-winning blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/wifeafterdeath.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Wife After Death<\/em><\/a>. Often heart-breaking, <em>Wife After Death<\/em> also sparkles with humour and intelligence. After winning Best Personal Blog in the Blog North Award, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebookseller.com\/news\/brownlee-buy-virgin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lucie signed a major book deal with Virgin Books<\/a> to publish her memoir, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Me-After-You-Lucie-Brownlee\/dp\/0753555832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Me After You<\/em><\/a>. She currently runs creative writing classes for young authors and is in the early stages of a PhD. He often works with other poets locally and nationally to create events and to work on poetry projects. In 2016 he founded the Gloucestershire Poetry Society and the Gloucester Poetry Festival. Since then, he has had his work accepted by many publications including<a href=\"http:\/\/www.inksweatandtears.co.uk\/\"> <em>Ink, Sweat and Tears<\/em><\/a><em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/obsessedwithpipeworkblog.wordpress.com\/\">Obsessed with Pipework<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/threedropspoetry.co.uk\/\">Three Drops from a Cauldron<\/a>, Words from the Wild, Outlaw Poetry, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freshairpoetry.org\/\">Fresh Air Poetry<\/a>, I am not a silent poet, As it Ought to Be, Nymphs,<\/em> and <em><a href=\"http:\/\/stridemagazine.blogspot.com\/\">Stride<\/a><\/em> (plus many more and anthologies). He currently has two collections <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackeyespublishinguk.co.uk\/z-d-dicks-poet\">\u2018<em>Malcontent\u2019 <\/em>and <em>\u2018Intimate Nature\u2019<\/em><\/a> with Black Eyes publishing (2019) and one <em>\u2018Vexed\u2019<\/em> with Hedgehog Poetry Press (2020). Dicks has a keen interest in imagistic poetry and his work has been described \u2018muscular language\u2019 by Helen Ivory and has himself been described as \u2018a gothic Seamus Heaney\u2019 by Anna Saunders. In 2019 he was appointed Gloucestershire Poet Laureate and works in various settings to promote poetry.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/angela.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/angela.jpg?resize=143%2C95&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-905\" width=\"143\" height=\"95\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dr Angela France<\/strong> is the author of five poetry collections, and her many achievements include winning the <a href=\"https:\/\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/2011\/10\/18\/angela-france-wins-lightship-poetry-prize\/\">Lightship International Poetry Prize<\/a>. Her poetry collections are <em>Lessons in Mallemaroking<\/em> (Nine Arches Press), <em>Occupation<\/em> (Ragged Raven Press), <em>Hide<\/em>, (Nine Arches Press) and  <a href=\"http:\/\/ninearchespress.com\/publications\/poetry-collections\/the%20hill.html\">The Hill<\/a>, (Nine Arches Press) of which poet Sheenagh Pugh said &#8216;<span class=\"textnormal mobile-undersized-upper\">Exuberant, controlled, angry, elegiac, this is a poetry of landscape, politics, witness.<\/span>&#8216; Angela has developed <em>The Hill<\/em> into a multi-media poetry show which she is performing around the country,\u00a0 with 10 dates funded by the Arts Council. Her latest collection <a href=\"https:\/\/ninearchespress.com\/publications\/poetry-collections\/terminarchy\">Terminarchy<\/a> was published in July 2021. Angela also runs a monthly live poetry event in Cheltenham, \u2018Buzzwords\u2019, and has had poems published in a number of poetry journals and anthologies. She\u00a0holds an\u00a0MA in Creative and Critical Writing and in 2015 she completed\u00a0a PhD. Today, she\u00a0combines teaching poetry and\u00a0pedagogy at the University of Gloucestershire with facilitating community based writing workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/lesley-ingram.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/lesley-ingram.jpg?resize=137%2C142&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Lesley Ingram\" class=\"wp-image-1264\" width=\"137\" height=\"142\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lesley Ingram<\/strong> was born in Yorkshire, England and rediscovered her love of writing poetry when she abandoned her career in IT to move to France to teach EFL in 2000. She now lives in Ledbury. She has recently completed a Masters in Creative Writing at the University of Gloucestershire where she will begin a PhD in Autumn 2013. She has been published in various places including <em>Mslexia, The Flea, Dead Ink, iota, Under the Radar, Writers Abroad<\/em> and <em>Angle<\/em> and her first collection,&nbsp;<em>Scumbled<\/em> was published by Cinnamon Press in 2015. She won the 2013 Ludlow Fringe Poetry competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/ddjohnston1compressed.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/ddjohnston1compressed.jpg?resize=127%2C92&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"DDJohnston1compressed\" class=\"wp-image-1208\" width=\"127\" height=\"92\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DD Johnston<\/strong> wrote his first novel, <em>Peace, Love, and Petrol Bombs<\/em>, while studying for an MA at the University of Gloucestershire, and his second novel, <em>The Deconstruction of Professor Thrub<\/em>, while studying for a PhD. <em>Peace, Love, and Petrol Bombs<\/em> was a <em>Sunday Herald<\/em> book of the year in 2011, while <em>The Deconstruction of Professor Thrub<\/em>&nbsp;was a 2013 book of the year in <em>The Morning Star<\/em>, who described it&nbsp;as &#8216;a determinedly extraordinary novel.&#8217; He is also the author of a Bridport Prize shortlisted story, &#8216;The Invitation&#8217;. Today he is part of the teaching staff at The University of Gloucestershire, where he was awarded a University Teaching Fellowship in 2013. His third novel,&nbsp;<em>The Secret Baby Room<\/em>,&nbsp;was published by Barbican Press in 2015. He was recently described by <em>The Morning Star <\/em>as &#8220;the best left-wing fiction author around.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/sharon.jpg?resize=122%2C122&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"sharon\" class=\"wp-image-4065\" width=\"122\" height=\"122\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1515832934534_70842\"><strong>Sharon Larkin<\/strong> completed her MA at UoG in 2011. She is a poet, translator and photographer, with&nbsp;<\/span><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1515832934534_70844\">a poetry collection,&nbsp;<em>Interned at the Food Factory, <\/em>published by Indigo Dreams in January 2019. Her poems have been commended in competitions (eg Cinnamon Press, Happenstance, Prole and Mother\u2019s Milk Books) and she has been a prizewinner in Here Comes Everyone and Amaryllis competitions.&nbsp;<\/span><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1515832934534_69020\">Her poems have been anthologised (eg Cinnamon Press, Eyewear Publications,&nbsp; Fairacre Press, and Anthology of Owls) and have been published in magazines (eg <em>Prole, Obsessed with Pipework, Here Comes Everyone, Reach<\/em>) and e-zines (including I<em>nk, Sweat &amp; Tears, Amaryllis, Rat\u2019s Ass Review, Riggwelter, Picaroon, Algebra of Owls,The Stare\u2019s Nest <\/em>and<em> Spilling Cocoa over Martin Amis<\/em>). She recently wrote a poem in Welsh for the Elephant\u2019s Footprint <i id=\"yui_3_16_0_ym19_1_1515832934534_70847\">Wild Whispers <\/i>international poetry film project. Sharon jointly runs Cheltenham&nbsp;Poetry Caf\u00e9 \u2013 Refreshed, is Chair of Cheltenham\u2019s Arts Council \u2013 and Cheltenham Poetry Society . Mantie, whose poems have also appeared in a number of print journals, excels as a performance poet, and in 2015 she was elected Bard of Exeter. According to ancient tradition, the town of Exeter is allowed to elect a Bard to serve for a term of one year and one day, and at 27 Mantie is believed to be the youngest Exeter Bard ever elected. Mantie teaches&nbsp;at St Peter&#8217;s School in Lympstone, where she is head of English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/kayleighcropped1.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2019\/01\/kayleighcropped1.jpg?resize=108%2C128&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-908\" width=\"108\" height=\"128\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>Dr Kayleigh Moore<\/strong> is a proud MA graduate of U of G\u2019s Creative Writing programme, and her studies culminated in a doctoral thesis investigating her creative process behind writing violence.&nbsp; She has had several short stories published, as well as two novellas.&nbsp; Her latest, &#8216;Dolls&#8217; (2012), was written during her BA and is set in the world of fetish, bondage, S&amp;M and consensual torture. &nbsp;&#8216;Monster Porn&#8217; (2011), Kayleigh&#8217;s MA dissertation, is set in a particularly dark underbelly of the American pornography industry.&nbsp; In addition to her writing successes, Kayleigh has taught prose and poetry to university students and secondary school pupils.&nbsp; She is a member of NAWE (National Association of Writers in Education)&nbsp;and continues to present papers on transgressive theory and the bodily grotesque at conferences throughout the UK. Since beginning the course she has written four collections of poetry and launched a poetry festival. Her collections are:&nbsp;<em>Communion<\/em>,&nbsp;(Wild Conversations Press), <em>Struck,<\/em> &nbsp; (Pindrop Press)&nbsp;<em>Kissing the She Bear,<\/em>&nbsp;(<em>Wild Conversations Press<\/em>),&nbsp;<em>Burne Jones and the Fox<\/em>&nbsp;( Indigo Dreams) and the forthcoming&nbsp;<em>Ghosting for<\/em> <em>Beginners&nbsp;<\/em>( Indigo Dreams, Spring 2018<em>).&nbsp;<\/em>She has been described as&nbsp;\u2018a poet who surely can do anything\u2019&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>The North<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;and&nbsp;\u2018a poet of quite remarkable gifts\u2019&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Bernard O\u2019Donoghue. <\/strong>Anna is also the founder and executive director of Cheltenham Poetry Festival. The festival was described as a \u2018triumph\u2019 when it was launched and as \u2018a remarkable festival &#8211; an exemplum for all poetry and literary festivals\u2019 by author Jonathan Taylor. Her plays, which have been performed in London, Berlin, and New York, include <em>The Operators<\/em>, which in summer 2011 ran in Washington to critical acclaim, and <em>The Measurements of a Murderer<\/em>, which has recently been anthologised in <em>Scenes for a Diverse World<\/em> (ICWP Press). Lucy&#8217;s recent creative and critical projects have explored psychogeography and the social construction of space. In 2012 <a href=\"https:\/\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/2012\/10\/23\/come-to-where-im-from-2\/\">she was commissioned by Paine&#8217;s Plough<\/a> to write and perform a play about Cheltenham as part of a &#8216;theatrical tapestry&#8217; of the UK. She also founded <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.elevenplaces.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eleven Places Theatre Company<\/a>, whose experimental play <em>The Recipe for Belonging<\/em> was performed in January 2013. Most recently, she and Eleven Places collaborated with Dreamshed Theatre Company to produce <em><a href=\"https:\/\/uniofglos.blog\/creativewriting\/2014\/06\/23\/places-i-remember-theatre-in-cheltenham-this-week\/\">Places I Remember<\/a>&nbsp;<\/em>&#8211; a trilogy of plays about space that ran at The Everyman Theatre in June 2014.&nbsp;Her critical work includes&nbsp;studies of&nbsp;Virginia Woolf and outdoor theatre, work on Debbie tucker green, and studies of institutional dramaturgy.
