Congratulations to everyone (and if I have missed any successes, please let me know).<\/p>\n<p>Please note \u2013 some of you have told me about acceptance for the UoG anthology <em>Singularity. <\/em>I haven\u2019t included them here as I\u2019d like to get a full list \u2013 watch this space!<\/p>\n<h2>Prose<\/h2>\n<p>MA student <strong>Jim Pownall<\/strong> \u00a0has published two short stories in magazines: \u2018The Imposter \u2018(<em>Fake<\/em>, Wilson Arts Collective Zine) and \u2018The Pilgrimage\u2019 (<em>Duet<\/em>, Pittville Press).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Claire Harrison<\/strong> (2<sup>nd<\/sup> year BA) had a short story published in <em>Fresh Leaves, an anthology of short stories by new writers in 2018<\/em>; she won an award for being the author of one of the top three stories chosen by the editor\/publisher Vine Leaves Publishing. Claire was also winner of 2018 Cheltenham Poetry Festival Slam Story competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carol Hilton<\/strong> (2<sup>nd<\/sup> year BA) also had two stories published in <em>Fresh Leaves; <\/em>\u2018Honey Cake\u2019 and \u2018Henry\u2019s Seagull\u2019. \u2018Honey Cake\u2019 won the first prize of a \u00a375 Amazon voucher.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amelia Wreford<\/strong> (MA) has a short story &#8216;Worm&#8217; &#8211; for December issue of\u00a0 BFS Horizons, which is the official periodical for the British Fantasy Society.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Caroline Juskus<\/strong> (1<sup>st<\/sup> year BA) had a story \u2018Ill Winds\u2019 selected for a themed <em>Mslexia<\/em> issue \u2013 a very tough market!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chloe Forester<\/strong> (3<sup>rd<\/sup> year BA) published a story \u2018Isa\u2019 in <em>Novelty<\/em> magazine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Paton<\/strong> (2<sup>nd<\/sup> year BA) was a winner in the Waterloo Festival short story competition. The collection is available as an eBook on Amazon &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/dp\/B07DP2W22T\">https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/dp\/B07DP2W22T<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Sophie Lay<\/strong> (3<sup>rd<\/sup> year BA) had a \u00a0short story \u2018Cultivate\u2019 published in <em>Popshot<\/em> Magazine&#8217;s Summer Issue. Sophie also let me know about a group publication in the <em>Lampeter Review<\/em> later this year. The piece is titled \u2018Staying Grounded: Twelve Eyewitness Accounts of the Event&#8217;. The students (and staff) included are: <strong>Libby Brown, Oli Cowmeadow, Becky Charnock, Chloe Hodgkinson, Tyler Keevil, Sophie Lay, Kerry McDonnell, Holly Naylor, Laurie Parrett, Shannon Storm, Kate Whinnett<\/strong>, and <strong>Amy Wright<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joyce Grant<\/strong>, who is one of our Humber College MA students, published a middle-grade baseball novel, <em>Sliding Home<\/em>, in April 2018 (publisher: Lorimer Kids &amp; Teens, Canada).<\/p>\n<p>A late addition: <strong>Reece McCormack <\/strong>has a story, &#8216;Something with Miles on it&#8217; accepted for publication by the <em>New England Review<\/em>; it will feature in either the September or December issue.<\/p>\n<h2>Poetry<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Ziggy Dicks<\/strong> (MA) has had poetry on the <em>Outlaw Poetry<\/em> website, contributed to <em>Further into Darkness and Light<\/em> Anthology (profits for Mind charity), contributed to a forthcoming anthology by <em>Fallen Angel Poetry<\/em>, and launched Gloucester Poetry Society\u2019s first anthology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Asha Sutton<\/strong> (1<sup>st<\/sup> year BA) had a poem, \u2018We Breathe\u2019 on the webzine <em>I am not a silent poet <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/iamnotasilentpoet.wordpress.com\/\">https:\/\/iamnotasilentpoet.wordpress.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Caroline Juskus <\/strong>(1<sup>st<\/sup> year BA) also had a poem on <em>I am not a silent poet<\/em> and is awaiting results of other submissions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Molly Burnell<\/strong> (1<sup>st<\/sup> year BA)had a poem , \u2018A Drop of Darkness\u2019, \u00a0published in the January 2018 issue of a print magazine <em>The Dawntreader <\/em>and a second poem accepted for a later issue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jemma O\u2019Donovan<\/strong> (2<sup>nd<\/sup> year BA) had a poem, \u00a0\u2018Prisoner\u2019, on <em>I am not a silent poet<\/em> and another poem \u2018Glenfiddich\u2019 in <em>Bindweed <\/em>magazine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carol Hilton <\/strong>(2<sup>nd<\/sup> year BA) a poem \u2018Empty Nest\u2019 in <em>Snakeskin Poetry<\/em> Webzine &#8211; June\/July 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ross Turner<\/strong> (1<sup>st<\/sup> year BA) has done very well with a group of four poems featured in <em>Sarasvati<\/em> <em>magazine <\/em>( Indigo Dreams Publishing Ltd) and a poem in <em>Snakeskin Poetry<\/em> Webzine, December 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bea Hughes<\/strong> (2<sup>nd<\/sup> year BA) had a poem, \u00a0\u2018Oilseed\u2019, on <em>I am not a silent poet<\/em> and won the May competition, and publication, at <em>Creative Writing Ink<\/em> journal with a poem \u2018Christmas Morning\u2019.<\/p>\n<h2>Dramatic Writing<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Domenic Edwards <\/strong>(3<sup>rd<\/sup> year BA) and <strong>Daniel Paton<\/strong> (2<sup>nd<\/sup> year BA) will both have plays produced and performed at Stroud Theatre Festival with <em>Smash The Glass<\/em> theatre company.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It is fantastic to see students doing so well in all three strands \u2013 keep sending the work out, we are proud of you!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UoG creative writing students have been doing great things this year and have achieved publications and prizes in all three strands.
