Student success: Kate Arnold\u2019s debut poetry collection to be published this September<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have caught up with our alumni Kate Arnold whose debut poetry collection, Kicking at Tombstones<\/em>, is due out on 3rd September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kate told us that it had all started just before Christmas of last year. \u201cThe owner of Black Eyes publishing house came to a gig we did just before Christmas and asked afterwards whether we had ever considered a collection of Dead Anyway <\/em>lyrics. Obviously, although I’ve had poetry published in magazines, it had always been a dream of mine to have a collection published, so I jumped at the chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was quite difficult choosing which of the over 80 pieces I’ve written for Dead Anyway to include in the collection as, although some of the tracks go down well live, I found that they didn’t really work as poetry on the page – and it was important to me that they did. I settled on 26 in the end, and they are arranged chronologically from our first EP (2020) to a track from out new album ‘Tough, Listen’ which is coming out in the next couple of months.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artwork from local artists which we had used for covers of our releases have been included, and it’s lovely to be able to showcase their considerable talents too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
