Fans of Tyler\u2019s writing will be excited to hear that Myriad<\/a> have recently purchased English language rights for his second novel, The Drive<\/a>.<\/i> The Drive<\/i> tells the story of Trevor, who embarks on an epic road trip from Vancouver to California with only a flea-ridden cat as a companion, all in an attempt to mend his broken heart. Myriad describe it as \u2018An odyssey of Homeric proportions, told with a searing clarity reminiscent of Willy Vlautin or Patrick de Witt\u2019 with \u2018all the adventure and surrealism of Hunter S Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas<\/em> but overlaid with heartfelt yearning and hope.\u2019 While Matthew Francis has called it \u2018A road novel like no other I’ve read. Trevor’s journey into the American north-west and his own wounded ego is magical, hilarious, dark and crazy.\u2019<\/p>\n

Tyler, who lectures on The University of Gloucestershire BA and MA Creative Writing courses, is the author of Fireball<\/a><\/i>, which was longlisted for Wales Book of the Year, was shortlisted for the Guardian<\/em> Not the Booker prize, and received the Media Wales People\u2019s Prize in 2011<\/a>. He is a prolific short story writer and a collection of his shorter fiction is also anticipated in 2013.
