First year, Anna Underwood’s creative project ‘Idioms’ for The Personal Portfolio Module

For this module, I really wanted to push myself creatively, when I came up with the idea of using common phrases- idioms to inspire conceptual self-portraiture.
I was inspired by the likes of Alex Prager, Aleksandra Kingo, David Stewart and Cindy Sherman to name a few. In addition, I have always found these idioms such a strange element of the English language, so wanted to combine this fascination of these phrases with my love of photography, fashion and make up.
I styled all the shoots myself, carefully considering colours, makeup, and even my nails. I had help from Alex from my course to help my ideas come to life and translate using different lighting and postproduction techniques. I am so happy with how this module turned out.
