Callum Mcentevy shoots work for the advertising a ‘TV-show/box set’ during the Introduction to Editorial and Advertising module.

For my Tv Box Set Brief I was asked to create two images that could work together across 3 different social media platforms.

I decided to choose FX’s “What We Do in The Shadows” as I wanted it to be based on a recently aired show whilst also being one that I enjoyed allowing me to have a deep understanding of the source material when proceeding with the task.

After researching locations near me I decided to use the Pittville Pump Room as its Greek and Roman inspired architecture from the 19th century had similar elements to the shows production design.

Unfortunately, when I arrived on my planned day of shooting, I was presented with a rather large wedding taking place and had to adapt to the unexpected event.

Initially I moved around the pump room to find places that were quieter and less heavily lighted and came across the car park where I asked my model to stand In front of the streetlamps so I could capture the orange glow around their silhouette. This image then informed all further developments resulting in my second image featuring another silhouette with the pump room being used but from a distance with the weddings heavy lighting edited to mimic what had been produced in my first image.

Once I added the brand marks and finished some small edits to better match each image, I decided to use Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok with a combination of feed, story and ad placement posts for my 3 social media platforms promotion completing the brief.

Overall, I am happy with my outcomes and love how the images almost have a similar style to Netflix advertisements. Most importantly though I have learned how to adapt to sudden change and that improvisation can lead to an outcome you might not have thought of without.
