A cup of tea with…Tristan Middleton

For the next of our series, we go for a cup of tea with one of the School of Education team from the University of Gloucestershire. Today we have a cuppa and natter with Tristan Middleton.
Hi, how are you? How do you like your tea?
Ermm, unless there is cake to go with it, can I have a very strong coffee with milk (oat at the moment) please?

What is your role within the School of Education?
I work on the BA Education, the MA Education and the PGCAP courses. I am Academic Course leader with Lynda Kay for the MA Education and am also the Academic Course Leader for the franchise of the Foundation Degree in Education & Learning at SGS Filton.
What does your typical day involve?
What is a typical day? Emails, teaching, meeting, writing, reading, marking, emails…Teaching sessions and having discussions with students are my favourite parts.
How long have you been working at the University of Gloucestershire and what attracted you to the role?
I have been at the University of Gloucestershire for 3 years, having moved from my role as a teacher and Senior Leader at an Infant school in Bristol. I needed a new challenge and I wanted to have the opportunity to access the library and engage in academic activities.
Would you like a biscuit? Custard cream?
If there are only biscuits on offer, then Custard cream is the classic, but can I have cheese instead please?
Blimey! Give me five minutes and I’ll have a rummage in the fridge to see what we’ve got.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?
I love cooking (& eating) and wine. I also belong to Colerne Musical Theatre group – we regularly put on musicals and pantomimes in our village.
What is the best thing about working in the School of Education?
Being part of a friendly and supportive team who are committed to giving our students the best opportunities to go on to a range of educational situations and make a positive difference.
