Charity Run in memory of UoG Early Childhood Studies Graduate
Grace Parrott 1996-2018

This November should have been a time when our wonderful graduate Grace Parrott celebrated her 23rd birthday. Tragically, earlier this year her life was suddenly cut short. To commemorate her birthday month and celebrate Grace’s commitment to working with children and families in need at our local partnership setting, Battledown Centre for Children and Families, lecturers from the Early Childhood Studies BA did a 7 mile night time fun run on November 23rd, 2018.

Following graduation, this dynamic and athletic (ha, ha, who are we kidding!) team were joined by staff from Battledown Centre and ran around all of the Cheltenham campuses and a place very dear to Grace, Battledown Centre itself. Our students doubted our ability to get around, so every stage of the run was captured as proof on our Facebook page (some even whilst running!!)

A memorial sensory play garden is being established in memory of Grace at the centre and all funds raised from our run will be going directly to this wonderful tribute and resource.

It was a fantastic event, especially as we were able to share it with our partners from the centre. The memory will be cherished as worthy of such a fantastic graduate and cause.

A JustGiving page is available for any donations, or you are welcome to give directly to the ECS team who will add it to the £150 we collected from very generous attendees of our graduation on Friday. Thank you to those who have already donated, both the ECS team and Battledown are very grateful.
