What we do

Our partnership area covers the following: Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, and fringes of Bristol, Swindon, Oxfordshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

In the School of Education we have well established links with a wide range of schools across our partnership area show host school experience placements.

Schools can select preferred placements to host from the three year BEd Primary Education degree and PGCE in Primary Education.

We provide high quality centre-based training which was graded outstanding at both Primary and Secondary in our two most recent OFSTED inspections. As well as this, we provide support for schools and students during placements via experienced Link Tutoring team.

We have close and well established links with School Direct partners. Our partnership steering group shares and monitors the strategic direction of our Initial Teacher Education (ITE) provision across all phases.

Our Partnerships

Our outstanding partnerships place the child and its trainee teachers at the centre of all that we do. They provide first class initial teacher education in the early years, primary and secondary education phases in Gloucestershire and the surrounding region. Our schools and settings are exciting, supportive and inspiring places in which to train to teach and to make a real difference to children’s learning and aspirations.

The University fully embraces the diversity of schools and educational settings and works with with over 400 early years settings, schools and colleges. Our innovative and inclusive partnership work plays a strong part in the long-term improvement for schools in challenging socio-economic contexts.  This ensures our trainees obtain the necessary depth of learning that enables them to considerably exceed the minimum teaching standards (Ofsted 2015).
