FieldWorks 4: Thursday 19th November 16.30 – 17.30 GMT

An online conversation and Q&A with Ellie Irons of Next Epoch Seed Library.

Next Epoch Seed Library is an ongoing participatory project based in New York. It was founded by artists Ellie Irons and Anne Percoco.

The Next Epoch Seed Library (NESL) re-imagines the conventional seed bank for a new epoch defined by massive human impact on the global environment. Rather than focusing exclusively on human utility or agricultural heritage, it champions the contributions of weedy plant species most likely to survive and thrive in an unpredictable future.

The NESL exists as a fluid, crowd-sourced collection of seeds and as a series of physical installations.

In conversation with lecturer and theorist Jean Boyd, from the School of Arts at the University of Gloucestershire.

The session will be chaired by Alison Woodhead, currently completing MA Fine Art, whose research explores how an accumulation of small gestures might recalibrate our relation to the natural world.

All FieldWorks events are free to attend.

Event supported by the Janet Trotter Trust and Your Future Plan, University of Gloucestershire.
