FieldWorks 8: Mon 28th Feb 16.00-17.00 GMT

An online conversation and Q&A with Greg Bunbury, graphic designer for social impact.

Bunbury is a creative consultant, professional advisor on diversity and inclusion, and advocate for purposeful design.

He works across print, digital and branding; he’s also the curator of the Black Outdoor Art initiative and hosts Design For The People podcast. Recent typographic work, fonts Windrush and Bradford ’81, carry references to Black and Asian British history and experience within their letterforms, maintaining visibility of these legacies and encouraging understanding of the type’s origins.

A former studio Head of Creative, he produced award-winning work for a marketing agency before going freelance. His expanded practice continues to extend his reach and range of communication, to educate, engage, share his experience and uplift the voices of others https://bunbury.co/

The Black Outdoor Art project, in collaboration with Brotherhood Media, uses billboards and advertising tactics to market anti-racism and deploy design in the public environment. Design is not presumed to provide answers to complex social and political problems: instead it’s being used to support favourable conditions for change by keeping these debates available, public and visible to all.

In conversation with senior lecturer Jean Boyd from the School of Arts at the University of Gloucestershire and chaired by Lydia Harris, who is studying Masters in Design (Graphic Design).

All FieldWorks events are free to attend: this event runs as part of Arts Week.
