A February Full of Activities

Talk on 16 February imageThis month is looking like quite a busy one (in a good way!) for students and staff in History. We have a range of events, papers and seminars taking place over the next few weeks, all of which – of course! – are open to students, and some of which are also open to the public.

One of the most striking for those Cheltonians amongst us (or for those who have an interest in sport) is a paper being given, as part of a programme delivered through our local Historical Association, which sees Professor Tony Collins from De Montfort University giving a paper on the history of rugby in Gloucestershire. This event is open to all (students, staff and public alike), and takes place on Park Campus at 7.30pm on Monday, 16th February.

This paper also forms part of our varied ‘Showcasing History’ programme, which plays host to events throughout the year and is designed to offer opportunities for students and staff to consider aspects of history outside taught classes (current students, see our Facebook page for information on trips to London and a local museum).

For those of you not – or not yet! – students here at Gloucestershire, you can view a poster setting out all our upcoming dates here. Do come along to the public ones! Likewise, do look out for reports from each of them on this very blog over the coming weeks.
