?????????  It was a wonderful event – a real celebration of the work put in by the Landscape students over the past year. It started with a superb presentation by Vanessa Powell (winner of last year’s Jo Yeates Landscape Design Prize awarded by BDP). Vanessa traveled to Japan to work with MIT on some of the coastal landscapes devastated by the recent tsunami. Her presentation was titled The Art of Surviving and can be viewed here.

?????????  Neil Mattinson, partner with LDA Design) opened the show with an inspirational talk about what the future holds for the Landscape Architecture profession (with some excellent tips on how to get a job thrown in!).

7 prizes were awarded in total, described below…

?????????   The Jo Yeates Landscape Design Prize, awarded by BDP for the best design portfolio at postgrad level, went to Michael Bedore congratulations Mike. Many thanks to Martin Jones & Jo McAllister of BDP (Bristol) for judging and awarding the prize.

?????????   The LISW (Landscape Institute South West) award for ‘the best student portfolio relating to our engagement with nature‘ was awarded to Caterina di Garbo – congratulations Caterina. Many thanks to Jill White and Chris Bolton of the LISW for judging and awarding the prize.

?????????  Daniel Bowles won the Bodfan Gruffydd prize at Postgrad level.

?????????   Arran McClurgh won the Bodfan Gruffydd prize at Degree level.

?????????   Matt Fordham won the Bodfan Gruffydd prize at Conversion level.

?????????   Matt James won the Bodfan Gruffydd prize at 2ndYear.

?????????   Jessica Ginty won the Bodfan Gruffydd prize at 1st Year.

Many thanks to Angus Pryor, our new Head of the Art and Design School here at the university for being our Master of Ceremonies and helping everything run smoothly, and many congratulations for everyone involved in the show – from the first years through to the Masters students – it was an excellent show full of professionalism, sustainability and innovation – exactly what we want to see!
