Steve Mann and Jake Poloni, both 3rd year Landscape Architecture students on the course, have won a Gold Medal at the Malvern Autumn Show as well as Best in Show in the Edible Garden category! Congratulations to Jake and Steve for a fantastic design and construction, as well as becoming double prize winners at a national show.

Their garden design was inspired by Rockford, Illinois as part of a competition sponsored by Rockford, The Three Counties Showground and The University of Gloucestershire. Known as the city of gardens, the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB) was at the centre of a competition for university students to create an edible garden inspired by Rockford.

The prize was to stage the garden at the show, and Jake and Steve’s winning entry took its inspiration from the striking difference in the layout of countryside around Rockford compared to that of Gloucestershire.

Jake, from Kemerton, and Steve, from Ruardean, were supported by Bill Burford, Landscape Architecture Senior Lecturer and Subject Group Leader as well as Senior Lecturer for Landscape Architecture Allan Mitchell.

“We are absolutely thrilled with their achievement,” said Bill. “This is wonderful news and very well deserved.”

Many thanks to Dave Entrican (Masters in Landscape Architecture student) and Allan Mitchell for the photographs.
