The final year Landscape and Community module, this year based in Gloucester’s Tredworth ward, has had a significant impact on residents and local organisers in terms of their positive response to the many ideas generated by our students for improving the visible landscape of the place. Indeed to showcase the range of solutions to the wider public, an exhibition of the student reports was staged in the High Street cafe on 24th June, the day scheduled for the annual Tredworth Street Party. Being a wonderfully warm, sunny day, the streets were animated by a good turnout of residents and visitors, partaking of the barbecued street food, the children’s activities, listening to the pulsating music and hopefully studying the selection of ‘before and after’ visualisations or flicking through the pages of the individual reports in the exhibition. My thanks must go to Tim Rees, local resident and member of the residents’ association who first agreed to collaborate with us on our module but also for negotiating with the cafe to allow us space for the exhibition.
