What is Your Future Plan?

With a Your Future Plan Week commencing 22nd October, now is the perfect time to think about your career goals and aspirations. Whether you want to qualify as a lawyer or are interested in non-legal routes, the sessions being held during the Your Future Plan week will help you in achieving your aims and making you attractive to potential employers.
All events can be booked through the Your Future Plan portal, but to give you a taste of what is being hosted during the week across our campuses, here are some of the many opportunities available:
Monday 22 October
11.00-12.00: Gloucestershire Employability Awards: what they are and how to get one.
2.15-3.45: LinkedIn for beginners: how to use the platform to advance your professional profile.
Tuesday 23 October
10.15-12.15: Interviewing and advising workshop: interactive workshop introducing you to the skills of interviewing a client.
1.15-2.45: Life as a Lawyer at the Environment Agency: Laura Stevenson, a Senior Lawyer in the Environment Agency, will be talking about Environmental Law in general and her experiences as an Environmental lawyer.
2.15-2.45: Applying for Postgraduate Study: not ready to leave education? See what postgraduate study has to offer.
Wednesday 24 October
11.15-12.15: CV, cover letters and applications: an essential interactive workshop to drive forward your future plan when applying for jobs.
3.00-4.30: Routes in Law (from University of Law): The University of Law’s “Route into Law” event will focus on identifying the full range of legal opportunities currently available in the market.
5.00-6.00: Step into Law – Part 1: The University of Law’s event is a two-part programme which has been designed to help you get started with vacation scheme and training contract applications and interviews.
Thursday 25 October
10.30-11.30: Ace that Interview!: whether the thought of a job interview terrifies you or you want to improve your skills further this workshop will help you to put in a winning performance.
11.30-12.30: CVs, cover letters and applications: repeat of session on Wednesday.
2.00-3.30: Graduate Schemes: repeat of session on Tuesday.
2.15-3.45: Promoting yourself using social media: Jonathan Pollinger, a social media expert, will be talking about how you can best present and promote yourself and your work across all social media platforms.
2.15-4.15: LinkedIn for Beginners: repeat of session on Monday.
3.30-4.15: Applying for Postgraduate Study: provides an insight into the range of postgraduate courses on offer in the UK – types of qualifications, methods of study, possible funding.
