Law School collaboration with Stowe Family Law: insights and opportunities

The Law School is delighted to announce that we will be collaborating with Stowe Family Law as part of the Level 5 Family Law module from this year. Stowe Family Law is the largest specialist family law firm in the UK with offices located throughout the country, including a local team of divorce solicitors in Cheltenham. Stowe Family Law is committed to helping future generations of lawyers interested in family law and we are excited to be working with the firm to enhance student experience in and out of the classroom.
The collaboration will provide students with an invaluable insight into how family lawyers work in practice as Louise Chipchase, the Managing Partner of the Cheltenham office, will be giving the students a talk on her experience of and approach to financial settlement claims on divorce. Louise frequently represents clients wishing to protect their financial future and wealth with assets including complex business structures, shares, trusts, commercial and residential property in the UK and abroad, substantial pensions and incomes. She is also experienced in advising on pre-nuptial and post nuptial agreements and on financial settlement on relationship breakdown between cohabiting couples – ever-topical legal issues.
Opportunities will also arise by virtue of the collaboration – Stowe Family Law have committed to providing a work experience placement to the student who achieves the highest module mark in Family Law. Given that family law is a highly competitive and sought-after area for work experience, this will provide a Level 5 student with an excellent opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge of family law in a work place setting.
Our Level 5 Family Law module is a very popular module choice, covering issues such as marriage and civil partnerships, divorce and ancillary relief and private child law matters such as parenthood, parental responsibility and child arrangement orders. The University of Gloucestershire’s Law School has excellent links with local firms and we are looking forward to building an ongoing relationship with Stowe Family Law.
