In less than a month my colleagues from the School of Business and Technology and The Growth Hub will get our keys to our new home at the Oxstalls campus in Gloucester. I don’t know if we’ll get a key, key card, or key fob but regardless how we gain access, the doors will swing open in September for students and business to work together under one roof. This will be a great asset for the University and growing businesses across Gloucestershire.
Recent reporting demonstrating our impact is encouraging and we’re excited to get started on this new chapter. But I can’t seem to get a line from the 1989 baseball classic, Field of Dreams out of my head: ‘If you build it they will come’ – it’s a great film if you’ve never seen it. For me, the line highlights the need for innovative events and activities bringing together businesses and University students.
So let’s give this new building a spin.
My academic and commercial colleagues from Marketing, Gloucestershire Research Innovation Project (GRIP) and the Growth Hub are holding a Marketing Expo on the 10th October from 11- 4 pm.
You’ll come away with insight and fresh perspective about a marketing opportunity or overcoming a marketing problem. Your participation also offers students a chance to showcase their ability and develop their employability skills.
If you would like to be involved then the great news is that we have a few spaces left – whether you’re currently working with us or not.
Businesses or any type of organisation can choose from a structured workshop to address a marketing problem or opportunity. Alternatively, you could exhibit in the atrium to conduct market research or get to know potential customers, employees or connections.
Short workshops will be facilitated by a lecturer and could address product development, brand positioning, the customer journey, digital marketing, or a marketing topic of your choice.
In addition, the Your Future Plan team will be available for those organisations offering placements or interested in developing a placement opportunity and would benefit from meeting students and staff.
