Congratulations to Kieran Wakefield, current level 4 student for gaining a place on the Ideas Tap Inspires with Magnum Photos(!) Professional Practice upcoming weekend photography masterclass. Here is a selection of Kieran’s images that he submitted to gain a valuable and well earned place.
Kieran says of his photographs… ‘All the following images were shot over the course of five weeks. I set out to achieve a photo documentary that would clearly represent the Cotswold’s and show the accompanying country lifestyle. My work began when I was assigned to create a progressive but short university project, based in the county of Gloucestershire. I chose an idea of which I had previous knowledge; my grandfather has always been a man of the country so I have built up the same interests during my upbringing. Instead of photographing an obvious reliable source, I wanted to focus on something that meant more to me. I wanted to show fellow students what living in the country means to many and what the land surrounding us is used for. Photographing the Honeycombe Shoot has widened my own knowledge and has hopefully given others an authentic view of the shooting scene. I am hugely grateful for everyone’s participation and I would like to thank everyone from the Honeycombe Shoot that has allowed me to pursue and create such a diverse photo documentary.’
