ISKCON at Uni Glos RPE

This week we were fortunate to host members of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Rohini (pictured) gave us a fascinating insight in to how ISKCON have managed to develop an almost fully environmentally sustainable culture that includes pure vegetarianism and harbouring the labour of working cattle and cows. He also spoke about the role that ISKCON have nationally and internationally when it comes to feeding the homeless  and those facing food poverty with their ‘Food for Life’ initiative.  We discussed various religious issues, did some chanting accompanied by harmonium and tabla and generally engaged in Krishna Consciousness. This was also an opportune moment to reflect upon one of the movements main supporters, George Harrison, whom students who came on the RPE India trip encountered the legacy of when they visited the Beatles Ashram in Rishkesh the week before.
