Extinction Rebellion Muslims visit RPE @Glos

Students who have been examining the relationship between climate change and the worlds religions had the opportunity to listen to and engage with Mothiur Rahman one of the co-founders of XR Muslims. Mothiur provided a really interesting account of his journey from the legal profession to his involvement with the climate change movement in recent years. Mothiur has been involved in many major actions including the London October rebellion where he performed the call for prayer on Lambeth Bridge (the Faith Bridge) and in Trafalgar Square. The session included an introduction to the role of Islam in the wider climate change debate and he provided some really insightful comments on the movement in general. Questions of ethnicity, class and identity lay at the heart of much of the discussion and the problem of inclusion that has characterised much of the conversation around XR was considered carefully. Many thanks Mothiur
