Degreeplus

There is one place left for a current student to work as a Special Collections and Archives intern as part of the University’s Degreeplus programme. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to box-list the archives of The Cathedrals Group, an association of sixteen universities and university colleges with church foundations, dating from 1984 – 2004.

You will be shown how to compile an archive box-list, the first step an archivist will often take before cataloguing large collections, sorting and describing what is there. You will also highlight records for disposal following a retention schedule and undertake basic conservation measures. There will also be the opportunity to write about your experience of the project on the Archive News blog and The Cathedrals Group website. This is a chance to get hands-on with archive material and will be great experience for any students thinking about a career in archives and records management.

The ideal candidate will be able to spend 2.5 weeks working in the Special Collections and Archives at Francis Close Hall, to be completed by the end of July 2015.
