Albert Dix was born on 23 June 1897, son of Samuel and Elizabeth Dix. He attended the Practising School from 1908 – 1911, while living at 47 Brunswick Street. He left school to become an errand boy, later becoming a Lance Corporal in the 2nd Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment.

Albert was wounded in the leg and chest at Outtersteene Ridge and later died at an Australian casualty clearing station on 18 August 1918. He was 20 years old. Albert is buried at Longuenesse Souvenir Cemetery.
