Albert John Yeates, son of plumber John Yeates, was born on 23 November 1888 and while at school lived at 1 Marsh Lane.

He joined the 1/5th (Territorial) Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment in 1913 and was transferred to the 8th (New Army) Battalion in 1918. Lance Corporal Yeates was fighting during a heavy artillery barrage when he was killed on 18 April 1918, the same day as John Pates. Albert has no known grave and so is recorded on the Tyne Cot Memorial and the grave of his father John in Cheltenham Cemetery.
