Alfred Tucker was a student at Cheltenham Training College from 1898 – 1900 and was originally from Battersea. After college he worked as a teacher at the Church of England School in Gillingham, Kent.

He was a Sergeant in the Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) and died of accidental injuries on 15 April 1915. He is buried at Wandsworth Cemetery and was the first college alumni member to lose his life in the conflict.
