Arthur Charles Russell attended Linden Road Council School, Gloucester, before training to be a teacher at Cheltenham Training College from 1909 – 1911. His parents were Tom and Ada. Arthur was a member of the Nineveh house group while at College.

He became a Lieutenant in the 6th Battalion Rifle Brigade before losing his life on 28 October 1918, age 27. Arthur is buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, where his headstone reads “Faithful Unto Death”.
