Arthur Ernest Allsopp was born on 1 February 1889 to Mr and Mrs George Allsopp. He lived at 24 Victoria Street while attending St Paul’s Practising School from 22 October 1895. He left school on 30 January 1903 to work as a carpenter, and later became a plumber for W T and R A Hunt Builders in Carlton Street.
Arthur became a Gunner in the 133rd Heavy Battery Royal Garrison Artillery and was wounded in the Somme sector. He died on 8 October 1918 age 29, leaving behind a widow and two children. He is buried at Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux.
