Charles George Fisher was born on 12 October 1899 and whilst at the Practising School lived with his parents Harry and Sarah Ann at St Paul’s Cottages. He left school on 5 May 1914 and went to work as an errand boy at the offices of Harvey and Healing.

Charles later enlisted as a Private in the 2/8th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, and was fighting in the Lys Valley when gas shells were released on the night of 21 August 1918. He died during the attack, aged 18. Charles is buried at Aire Cemetery where his headstone reads “In Deep Remembrance of Our Dearly Beloved Son and Brother”.
