Charles Henry William Pearce was the son of Walter Pearce and born in 1890. They lived at 8 St Paul’s Parade. After leaving school he worked as a house decorator with his father.

In August 1914 he enlisted as a Private in the 7th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment.  Like his fellow Practising School alumni Robert Gegg he travelled to Gallipoli and then to Mesopotamia via Egypt, where he also died in the battle for Kut-al-Amara. Charles is buried at the Amara Military Cemetery in Iraq. He was 27 years old.
