David Daniel Davies was the son of Rees and Nora Davies of 22 Saxon Street, Merthyr Tydfil. He was part of the 1914 – 1916 year group, with the nickname “Stiffy”, and was a member of the rugby team.
David became a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery before fighting in the Somme region. He was killed at the age of 22 and is buried at Franvillers Communal Cemetery Extension, where his headstone reads “Peace Perfect Peace”.
