Edward James Cardell attended Cheltenham Training College from 1901 – 1903. He married Elizabeth and lived in Edmonton, London.

He became an Acting Bombardier in the 162nd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, and was killed on 10 August 1917, aged 35. Edward is buried at Godewaersvelde British Cemetery where his headstone is inscribed “Till We Meet Again”.
