Edward Jason Evans, originally from Leominster, was a student at Cheltenham Training College from 1913 – 1915. He was the son of William Henry and Sarah Ann Evans, of 22 Burgess Street.

He was a Second Lieutenant in the 9th Battalion attached to the 8th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, who died on 3 July 1916, age 25. He is buried at Ovillers Military Cemetery, France, and his headstone reads “Until the day break”.
