Francis Spencer Byard died just three months after his brother Arthur. Their parents were Amos and Jane Byard who lived at 53 Marle Hill Road. After leaving the Practising School, Francis worked at Grove Printers in Wellington Passage.
He became a Corporal in the 12th The King’s (Liverpool Regiment). Francis was killed on 24 March 1918, in action in the Somme region. Francis is buried at Noyon New British Cemetery where is headstone reads “Their Glory Shall Not Be Blotted Out”.
