Frank Clifford, son of Thomas Clifford, was born in Cheltenham in 1897.

He was living at 15 King Street when he enlisted in the 8th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, becoming a Lance Corporal. He had a wife who lived in London after the war. Frank died on what was the last day of the Battle of the Somme, 18 November 1916, and having been initially buried and exhumed rests at Connaught Cemetery, Thiepval, where his grave is marked by a cross.
