George Albert James Blackmore was the son of Albert and Edith Blackmore who lived at 3 Elmview Terrace, Swindon Road. Prior to the war he was Manager at The King’s Head Hotel in Cheltenham.

George became a Private in the Army Service Corps before transferring to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He was killed on 22 April 1918 while trying to secure observation of the Ancre Valley, three years to the day since enlisting. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Pozières Memorial.
