George Coleman was a student at Cheltenham Training College from 1910 – 1912, and was originally from Liscard in Merseyside. He played for the 1st Soccer and Cricket teams whilst at college.

He was a Lance Corporal in the 1st/ 10th Battalion The King’s (Liverpool Regiment) and died at Ypres on 16 June 1915, aged 25, a day after Albert Armitage. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, having no known grave.
