George Edward Ransom was born on 9 September 1891 and attended the Practising School from 1903.
He was a Private in the 2nd Battalion Royal West Surrey Regiment prior to the outbreak of war, where he was stationed in South Africa. He arrived in Belgium on 6 October 1914 and was sent to the Ypres sector. He died on 7 November 1914 at Armagh Wood and has no known grave. George is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial. His brother Victor was also killed during the war.
