George Hume Ricketts was a student at Cheltenham Training College from 1905 – 1907. He was the son of William Dillon Ricketts and Ellen Ricketts, of 52 Brighton Road, Cheltenham.

He served as a Corporal in the 1st/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment and was awarded the Military Medal for bravery in battle on land. George died on 21 July 1916, aged 30. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in the Somme region of France, having no known grave.
