Grenville Edgar Pigott was born on 10 December 1876 and lived at 11 Regent Place, Swindon Road, which his father who was a furniture dealer with the same name.

Grenville junior became a seaman, serving in the Royal Navy for 25 years before succumbing to acute pancreatitis on 27 September 1917 at the age of 40. His brother Reginald was also in the Royal Navy and had been killed on board HMS Monmouth off the coast of Chile in 1914. Grenville is buried in Cheltenham Cemetery.
