Henry Thomas Hobbs was born c.1881 and had been a pupil at the Practising School.

He later became a regular Private in the 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment when he enlisted in 1904, and went to France in August 1914. He was killed fighting in woodland in Belgium near Zillebeke, when 300 out of 500 men fighting in the area were killed or declared missing in 36 hours. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
