Hubert William Duncan Brewster lived at 17 Marle Hill Parade and worked at The Royal Hotel in the High Street before the war.
Hubert became a Pioneer in the Royal Engineers (30th Railway Labour Battalion) and died of pneumonia on 25 October 1918, aged 43. He died on the same day and of the same disease as fellow Practising School pupil Ernest Davis. Hubert left a widow, Emily, and four children. He is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery where his headstone reads “We who loved you, sadly miss you. RIP”.
