James Bonnar Johnson, son of Thomas Johnson, was born on 20 May 1899 and lived at 18 Rutland Street.
He attended the Practising School from 1907, later enlisting as a Private in the South Wales Borderers. James was killed on 31 July 1917 whilst digging communications trenches in the Ypres sector. He had just turned 18 years old. He was initially buried but later exhumed and re-buried at Ypres Reservoir Cemetery where his grave is marked by a cross.
